Sleep to Dream
I understand that dreams are generally considered to come from our subconscious minds. It feeds our wants, needs, desires, insecurities, etc to us in a visual format while we sleep. But did you ever wonder if our dreams are a bit more than just a one-sided conversation with ourself? What if our dreams are connected in some way?
Most of the time when I'm having a dream the cast of characters in it are other people that I know in my daily life. Or there are other people in my dream that I know from television or movies. But there are times where there are unknown people in my dream. People I've never seen before. People that I've never spoken to before. But people that nonetheless seem very familiar to me. It makes me wonder if this person that is in my dream is another human somewhere on earth dreaming at the same time, and by chance our dreams happened to criss-cross. Maybe that's why they feel so familiar. My dreams have criss-crossed with theirs before, but I just don't remember those dreams. I only remember a very small percentage of my dreams when I wake up in the morning, but who's to say that memories of other dreams and people I've met in my dreams aren't up in my head somewhere?
Do you ever walk down the street and see someone that you swear you know but can't place them? And no matter how hard you try, you can never come up with who that person is? Could this person be one of your dream buddies? This would explain a ton of "Don't I know you"s that I've had in my life.
I'm not saying that when I have a dream with Alyson Hannigan in it that she's actually sleeping somewhere and our dreams have criss-crossed. But its a nice thought.
