Kickball Challenged
Here it is! Your weekly kickball update! See, its for you. I do this all for you. Whether you want it or not, its in your best interest to read it. To quote my parents, "You'll understand some day when you are older."
Last night in the most pathetic display of kickball since the game we played last week, we lost 16-1. Or we lost by 16 runs and it was really 17-1. I don't know for sure, but I know the number 16 had something to do with it. A lot of us were blaming the cold. It was about 36 degrees out there when we were playing. A lot of people were tired and stiff and not really making much of an effort. We were also dropping a ton of balls in the field. Everyone's hands were either frozen like rocks or we had on winter gloves that didn't allow us to grip the ball. Even our left field guy Gingrich (name changed to protect the kickball-challenged) dropped a ball and he hasn't done that in 4 seasons!
I played 3rd base and got every ball that came my way. I made a sweet force-out toss to 2nd base. But of course I followed it up by WAY over-throwing 1st base. And then there is the one where I sent it dribbling like a toddler's snot trail to 2nd.
On offense I did do a nice infield kick that got me to 1st base and advanced a runner to 2nd. However, we forgot to put out a 3rd base coach so the runner didn't stop at 2nd. She got tagged out on her way to 3rd and it ended the inning. Because we played so poorly, this was my only shot at kicking last night. I was in the middle of the batting order and I only got up once. Pathetic.
