2 Years and They Still Haven't Pulled the Plug On Me
January 7, 2004 - Yup. That's how it all started. Certainly didn't seem like I was going to last long, did it? Yet, I did.
That was exactly two years ago, as today is my second blogversary here at Mindsay; at anywhere for that matter. Let's fast-forward a year and just concentrate on the most recent 365 days.
January 7, 2005 - Well, there it is. My 1 year blogversary post. That makes sense, doesn't it? As nice as that format is, highlighting some of the more interesting posts of each month, this year I'm going to go a little more free form.
I pimped all kinds of things to the Mindsay community this year. The Inside and Serenity received all of my praise. Neither of these things paid off as I intended them to, as The Inside still got cancelled with no word on a DVD release, and Serenity failed to be a box-office success and the chances of a sequel are very slim. These two situations led to the Fox Can Suck My Ass tag. Still, I want to thank all of you. I know that some of you caught a few episodes of The Inside and even more of you went to see Serenity. Thank you for indulging me in my entertainment battles when there are for more important things to fight for in this world. With that in mind, go watch Arrested Development.
WTF has continued far longer than I ever thought it would. Each Friday night, I still get excited and nervous to pop those headphones on and step up to the mic. It's been a fun ride and I'll keep doing it as long as it continues to be fun. I know we have some neat ideas planned for the upcoming year, so keep tuning in, downloading those archives, or subscribing to the Podcast on iTunes!
I started doing more and more formal reviews of movies and CDs this year. For someone that always wanted to write features like these, this blog has turned into an ideal place for me to work on them and get some genuine feedback from an audience that isn't worried about a bottom line. Again, I have to thank you. Look for more of these in the coming year because I really enjoy writing them.
My love of video games continued to show through in my blog, probably to the boredom of most readers. Occasionally, gaming turned into a brilliant metaphor that I can really be proud of. Most of the time, the gaming posts were read by few and appreciated by fewer.
Wow. I found some stupid shit on the internet in the past year. I'm lucky to have a place like this blog to share these things.
And there was tons of more stuff that I'm not even going to bother linking to right now. I wrote a lot about wanting, buying, and then repairing a Prius. You read about my dating woes. I hope we all laughed at my silly co-workers and how I make them uncomfortable by saying what's on my mind.
Year 3 of my blog starts tomorrow. I will celebrate by not posting because it's Sunday and I rarely post on the weekends. Beyond that, what does year 3 have in store for AAP? Who knows, but I think it's safe to say that I'll be here, no matter what it brings. Mindsay has opened up a creative side of me that I really didn't knew existed. And not just online, but offline as well. The confidence that this blog has given me regarding my ablities to be creative and speak my mind can not be measured. My friends have noticed it, my family has noticed it, and my peers at work have noticed it. And it's just the beginning. I've got ideas for other projects I want to do with Mindsay. Stay tuned.
Thank you (for much more than you all probably realize).
